Touring since 2003, Red Sky Performance is a Toronto-based company of contemporary Indigenous dance, theater and music performers under the direction of Sandra Laronde of the Teme-Augama-Anishinaabe (People of the Deep Water). Their goal is to create inspiring experiences of contemporary arts and culture that illuminate themes and values of importance to Indigenous peoples.
Trace is a highly kinetic 60-minute contemporary dance featuring 7 dancers and 3 live musicians. Inspired by Indigenous (Anishinaabe) sky and star stories, the piece offers a glimpse into human origin as well as its future evolution. Trace premiered in the United States in August 2019 at Jacob’s Pillow and has won two Dora Mavor Moore Awards.
Made in Wickenburg Artist Residency & Open Rehearsals
