Pete McBride “Into the Canyon: Between River and Rim” at the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts
Join photographer/filmmaker Pete McBride on an epic quest, on foot, through the entire length of the Grand Canyon — not “rim to rim” as has been tackled by many — but 750 miles “end to end.” More people have walked on the moon than have completed this treacherous journey! Hiking over 100 days, Pete and adventure writer Kevin Fedarko traversed mostly along goat trails, through slot canyons, blinding sun, and snow.
As a part of the new Changemaker Speaker Series, Pete will share with us live his experiences in the Grand Canyon during this multi-media presentation. Part suffer-fest, part glorious trek, their expedition sheds light on the health and future of this national treasure and invites us to contemplate the value of wild spaces. In honor of this remarkable odyssey, National Geographic Adventure listed McBride and Fedarko as “Adventurers of the Year” in 2017.
