73rd Annual Gold Rush Days and Senior Pro Rodeo

western fun all weekend long out wickenburg way!

As of October 2020, Gold Rush Days 2021 is scheduled to go forward. We will update this page should the status of Gold Rush Days change.

February 12-14, 2021 Information:

Gold Rush Days is Wickenburg’s biggest event of the year, celebrating the town’s long history as a ranching and mining hub in Arizona. Founded 73 years ago, Gold Rush Days continues to honor our heritage. Today, the event draws tens of thousands of visitors during the 3 days of family-friendly activities. Gold Rush Days received its most significant recognition from the Library of Congress, which classifies the event as one of America’s Local Legacies. The Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce is the proud producer of the celebration each year, along with partners and sponsors.

weekend-long events

Carnival: One of the most popular aspects of Gold Rush Days is Brown’s Amusements Family Fun Carnival. The carnival opens early at 4:00pm on Thursday in the downtown district and runs through Sunday, February 14th. Rides and mini games for all ages will be on site. A limited number of discount tickets will be available at the Visitor Center, 216 N. Frontier Street for carnival patrons. Tickets are also sold at the carnival.

Old Fashion Melodrama: Visit the historic Saguaro Theater for the old-fashioned melodrama presented by The Desert Stagers! The evening performance begins at 7:00pm each evening from February 12th-14th. Tickets are sold at the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce (available at a later date).

Artisan Fair: The center of activity is the Wickenburg Community Center and the Wickenburg Public Library, which serves as the main festival area on Valentine Street. Set in the historic district, you’ll find over 150 exhibitors at the Wickenburg Art Club artisan fair and juried art show. In addition, enjoy over 100 arts & crafts vendors, family-fun carnival, free stage entertainment, gold panning, and much more. The main festival grounds will be open from 9:00am – 5:00pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Gold Panning: Try your hand at gold panning and get the opportunity to find gold, just as early Wickenburg pioneers did. Never tried gold panning before? Be sure to ask one of our volunteers to lend a helping hand!

Opening Ceremonies: The official opening gets underway on Friday, February 14th during the Opening Ceremonies on Frontier Street at 10:00am with western stuntman Will Roberts, and Gold Rush Officials kicking off the event.

Classic Car Show: The Classy Classics Car Club gets bigger and better each year. These classic and vintage car enthusiasts will display their beautiful automobiles from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

Senior Pro Rodeo: Spectate the cowboys and cowgirls as they compete in categories such as team roping, bronc riding, bull riding, barrel racing, and more. The National Senior Pro Rodeo and Open Rough Stock takes place on Saturday, February 13th and Sunday, February 14th. Gates open at 12 noon. Limited grandstand seating is available in addition to room for lawn chairs. Tickets will be available at the Chamber Visitor Center, at the gate, or online. The National Senior Pro Rodeo Association selected the 2013 Gold Rush Days Rodeo as their “Rodeo of the Year”. Admission: $15 adults; $12 seniors (60+); $5 students (13-17); $3 children (5-12) & under 5 are free.

Gold Rush Parade: The Gold Rush Days parade is on Saturday, February 13th at 10:00am. The parade is one of the largest in Arizona with nearly 100 entries, including dozens of horses within the entry classes. Classic cars, marching bands, youth groups and dozens of other floats will be participating. The 2021 parade theme will be announced at a later date. Named #3 Parade by Arizona Edventures’ Top Ten Parades to attend in Arizona! View the parade map here.

Mucking & Drilling Contest: Watch as competitors try their hand at mucking & drilling, another event that honors the hard work of our early pioneers. Contestants in the mucking contest must shovel broken up ore and rock into a mine cart, push it a short distance on a rail, and then dump it as quickly as possible. Those in the drilling contest must drill holes into solid rock as quickly as possible using the old-fashioned method of hand drilling with a steel drill and hammer.

Parking Information: Be there early! Parking is limited, especially downtown before the parade on Saturday.
