Announcing Webb Center’s 15th Anniversary Season!
The 2015-2016 Season will open on Friday, October 30 with a FREE performance
featuring Native American flutist R. Carlos Nakai and pianist Peter Kater. The U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West will also be presenting a FREE
concert in March.
“To celebrate 15 years we are thrilled to be hosting a combination of brand-new and returning artists this season,” stated Cathy Weiss, Executive
Director of the Webb Center. “The Webb Center is once again offering a variety of genres. For example, November features an ensemble of young
musicians in SHUFFLE Concert, where audience members choose the next song; RIOULT Dance NY performing beautiful modern dance pieces from
their repertoire; and the returning masters of swing, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.”
Audiences will be delighted by the sophisticated sounds of Pink Martini with vocalist Storm Large; suave standards from the John Pizzarelli Quartet;
charming new band, The Dustbowl Revival’s Americana and roots music; and a new pops program from The Phoenix Symphony.
Country music fans will enjoy Top 10 hits by singer-songwriter Clint Black; a rocking performance from the Charlie Daniels Band;
“Always…Patsy Cline,” a musical theater piece featuring 30 songs from Patsy’s songbook; and Terri Clark, who had six #1 singles top the
country charts. Kicking off Wickenburg’s Gold Rush Days celebration in February is Nashville star Jo Dee Messina.
Holiday shows in December include The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra, celebrating the spirit of the season and their 80th anniversary; and
the third appearance of Australia’s The Ten Tenors with their concert program “Home for the Holidays.”
In January, Under the Streetlamp returns with a fresh show full of rock ‘n’ roll, doo-wop, and Motown hits; and February welcomes back The Tenors,
four soaring voices that thrill audiences with a signature blend of classical and pop favorites. Headlining the Webb Center’s third annual
Find Your Center Gala, The Hot Sardines will perform sultry standards from the ‘20s, mixed with New Orleans brass.
Comedy this season features two hilarious comediennes: Las Vegas headliner Rita Rudner; and stand-up star Kathleen Madigan, a veteran of the
late night comedy show circuit. World music enthusiasts will delight in flamenco influenced rhythms from the Jesse Cook Quintet; and fiery
Latin-jazz percussionist Pancho Sanchez with his full band.
Completing the season is young Hawaiian artist Jake Shimabukuro, known for his highly energetic strumming on the ukulele; and a fascinating
presentation by National Geographic filmmaker Bob Poole, sharing unforgettable images and stories of Africa’s majestic animals.
