The Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce received the prestigious 2009 Excellence in Economic Development Award in the category of cultural and preservation projects for our 2009 four-color Wickenburg Historical Walking Tour Brochure. The award was presented Friday, August 28th during the Governor’s Annual Regional and Rural Economic Development Conference held at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park.
The beautiful Vase by Artist Nicholas Bernard was commissioned by the Arizona Commission on the Arts, and funded by the Arizona Lottery. A walnut plaque engraved with the award information and the great seal of Arizona acts as a base for the vase. Governor Jan Brewer presented the award to Julia Brooks, Wickenburg Chamber Executive Director. Arizona Highways Television host Robin Sewell, and Win Holden, Editor of Arizona Highways Magazine presided.
The Historical Walking Tour Guide was funded in part by the DeVore Foundation and designed by Val Heritage of Val’s Designs and Chamber Executive Director, Julia Brooks. Copies are distributed through the chamber office, and from local businesses, as well as available to the left for download. |
